3 Days in Abu Dhabi: The Grand Mosque, Louvre & the Corniche.

Three days in Abu Dhabi splits into icons, depth and ease: the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre Abu Dhabi on one ambitious first day, then the Zayed National Museum, Heritage Village and a hands-on falcon hospital visit before a dhow dinner on the water, and finally a Corniche swim, Qasr Al Hosn's old fort and Emirati fine dining at Mezlai. November's cool is exactly when this city is meant to be walked.

Day 2's lunch is Italian between two deeply Emirati mornings. If that break in theme bothers you, ask Robin to swap IL Forno for an Emirati or Levantine table near the marina and the day reads as one story

Day 1: The icons, mosque to Louvre

Your first day belongs to the two icons everyone comes for, the Grand Mosque's marble courtyards in the cool morning light, then the golden interiors of Qasr Al Watan before the afternoon crowds. Close it with a slow Corniche walk as the sun drops and an Emirati dinner to match.

A well-loved local spot for authentic Emirati dishes like machboos and harees, a genuine taste of home cooking.

Choose how hard day 1 works

If you only have these three dayskeep all three icons; taxis make the hops painless and this is the one day the distances are worth it, with the Corniche walk as the decompression at the end
If you hate watching the clock in museumsask Robin to move the Louvre to day 2's morning in place of the Zayed National Museum slot, and give the mosque and palace an unhurried afternoon instead
If you want the day back by mid-afternoontake Qasr Al Watan's courtyards and facade without the full interior circuit, and bank the saved hour for the Louvre's dome at golden hour

Day 2: Museums, falcons & a dhow on the water

A day for depth over breadth: the new Zayed National Museum, the low mud-brick charm of Heritage Village on the waterfront, and a hands-on visit with the falconers who've kept this Emirati tradition alive for centuries. Evening drifts onto the water for a dhow dinner cruise past the lit-up skyline.

Robin's tip. The falcon hospital visit is a working clinic tour, not a show: book the slot ahead and you will hold a falcon on the glove while the vets work. It is many visitors' favorite hour in the city.
Day 3 · Saturday

Day 3: A swim, the old fort & a Mezlai farewell

Your last day is unhurried, a morning swim off the Corniche, the old fort at Qasr Al Hosn where the city's story actually began, and a sunset stroll through Emirates Palace's gardens before a final proper Emirati meal to send you off.

Bucket-list foods in Abu Dhabi

Emirati home cooking

Machboos rice, harees and slow stews in the city's best-loved traditional dining room.

On this trip: Al Mrzab, day 1 dinner

Emirati fine dining

Camel, local fish and date-sweetened classics given the palace treatment; the cuisine's dressed-up expression.

On this trip: Mezlai at Emirates Palace, day 3 dinner, straight after the gardens walk

Levantine mezze

Hummus, grills and warm bread the way the Gulf's Lebanese kitchens have perfected them.

On this trip: Zahrat Lebnan, day 3 lunch after Qasr Al Hosn

Karak chai and luqaimat

Sweet cardamom tea from a hatch and syrup-soaked dumplings, the Emirates' everyday treat. The plan leaves café stops loose, so ask Robin to pin a karak window near the Corniche and it will.

Where to stay for this itinerary

Stay in Saadiyat Island if…

Stay in Al Maryah / downtown if…

Before you go

Do you need a car?

No. The sights are far apart but taxis are inexpensive, metered and constant, which is exactly how this plan hops between them. Renting only makes sense if you add desert or Al Ain days.

What should you know before the Grand Mosque?

Free timed entry is booked online, and the dress code is real: covered shoulders and knees for everyone, and loose clothing generally; abayas are no longer routinely lent, so come dressed for it. Morning light on the white marble is worth the early slot.

What must be booked ahead?

The mosque's timed slot, the falcon hospital tour, the dhow dinner cruise and a Mezlai table. All are painless online a few days out; November is high season.

How do you get in from the airport?

Zayed International is 30 to 40 minutes from the Corniche by taxi. If you are landing in Dubai instead, the drive down is about 90 minutes and this plan still works from night one.

Is three days enough?

For the mosque, the museums and the waterfront, comfortably. What it leaves out is the desert: an Empty Quarter overnight or a Liwa day is the natural fourth act, and Al Ain's oases the scholarly fifth.

4–5 days

Have 4–5 days?

First, unpack day 1

Move the Louvre to its own Saadiyat morning paired with the beach, and let the mosque and Qasr Al Watan share a slower ceremonial day that ends with the Corniche at sunset.

Day 4: the desert

A dune afternoon with a sunset camp, or the long drive to Liwa at the Empty Quarter's edge, gives the trip the landscape the city keeps pointing toward.

Day 5: Al Ain's oases

The falaj-watered palm gardens, the camel market and Jebel Hafeet's summit road make the garden city a full, worthwhile day before flying out.
